Synopsis

Aladdin is a 1992 Disney animated musical fantasy film set in the fictional Arabian city of Agrabah, following a charming street urchin who discovers a magic lamp containing an all-powerful Genie. With three wishes at his disposal, Aladdin attempts to disguise himself as a prince to win the heart of the independent Princess Jasmine, while outwitting the villainous sorcerer Jafar. The film became a cultural phenomenon, largely thanks to Robin Williams' legendary voice performance as the Genie and its Academy Award-winning soundtrack.

The original opening song contained lyrics describing the Middle East as 'barbaric,' and the film broadly stereotypes Arab culture. The villains are drawn with exaggerated darker features compared to the lighter-skinned heroes.
