Synopsis
Beyond the Black Rainbow is a visually mesmerizing psychedelic sci-fi horror film set in the sterile, dystopian Arboria Institute in 1983, where a young woman with mysterious psychic abilities is held captive by a disturbed scientist. Director Panos Cosmatos crafts a slow-burning, almost dialogue-free nightmare drenched in neon lights, analog synthesizer drones, and deeply unsettling atmosphere. The film is less a conventional narrative and more a hypnotic fever dream exploring control, trauma, and the dark side of utopian idealism.
