Synopsis

Set during World War II, Casablanca follows Rick Blaine, a world-weary American expatriate who owns a popular nightclub in Moroccan Casablanca, a hub for refugees fleeing Nazi-occupied Europe. When his former lover Ilsa arrives with her resistance-leader husband seeking exit visas, Rick must choose between rekindling their doomed romance and doing the right thing. The film is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most beloved movies in cinematic history.

Why Watch It
Rick's Café becomes the stage for one of cinema's greatest moral crossroads, where doomed romance collides with wartime heroism. Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman create an ache of longing in every glance, while the supporting cast delivers unforgettable turns that somehow feel both timeless and urgently of-the-moment. The dialogue crackles with wit and heartbreak in equal measure, making this not just a masterpiece but the gold standard for how Hollywood drama should work.
