Why Watch It
Del Toro transforms the gothic romance into a visual feast of decaying grandeur and haunting beauty, anchored by Mia Wasikowska's intelligent performance against Tom Hiddleston's magnetic ambiguity. The film prioritizes atmospheric dread and elaborate production design over jump scares, crafting something that feels like a living painting—sumptuous, unsettling, and impossible to look away from.
