Synopsis

Ex Machina follows Caleb, a young programmer invited to administer the Turing test to Ava, a strikingly humanoid AI created by his reclusive tech-genius employer Nathan. As sessions with Ava grow increasingly complex and intimate, Caleb begins questioning who is truly being tested and whether Ava's emotions are genuine. The film is a tense, cerebral thriller that explores themes of artificial intelligence, gender, power, and what it truly means to be conscious.

Why Eltorama recommends this film

Alex Garland films the Turing test as the man's failure, not the machine's success. The horror is that the AI passes by understanding men too well.
