Synopsis

Howard the Duck follows an anthropomorphic duck accidentally transported from his home planet to 1980s Cleveland, where he befriends a struggling rock musician named Beverly. Together, they must stop a powerful Dark Overlord of the Universe from taking over Earth. Despite its box office failure, the film has since gained a cult following for its campy humor and bizarre charm.

Why Watch It
A gloriously weird comedy that swings for the fences with its rubber-suited absurdity and genuinely sharp dialogue—George Lucas's most divisive passion project remains a fascinating artifact of mid-80s blockbuster ambition gone charmingly sideways. Lea Thompson and Tim Robbins lean into the madness, while Howard's acerbic wisecracks cut through the mayhem with surprising bite. It's campy, crude, and utterly committed to its own ridiculousness.
