In the Bedroom follows a seemingly content New England couple, Matt and Ruth Fowler, whose lives are shattered when their college-age son is killed by his girlfriend's volatile ex-husband. As grief consumes them differently, their marriage begins to collapse under the weight of unspoken blame, guilt, and rage.
