Synopsis

Irreversible is a viscerally intense French film directed by Gaspar Noé, following one devastating night in Paris through a reverse timeline structure. After a woman suffers a brutal attack, her boyfriend and ex-lover spiral into a desperate and violent quest for revenge. The film is both a harrowing exploration of trauma and a meditation on how time and fate make certain tragedies impossible to prevent.

Why Eltorama recommends this film

Noé runs his film backwards so the rape and the revenge precede the lovers' afternoon. The void is the structure: cause never reaches consequence, and time is the wound.
