Synopsis

Set in a grim near-future where television networks control society, the film follows investigative reporter Edison Carter as he uncovers a deadly advertising secret called blipverts. After a near-fatal accident, his consciousness is digitized into the glitchy, wisecracking AI known as Max Headroom. The movie is a sharp satirical commentary on media obsession, corporate greed, and the dangerous power of television.

Why Watch It
A prescient neon-soaked satire that nails the vapidity of TV culture while pioneering digital effects that still dazzle. Matt Frewer's stuttering, irreverent AI steals every scene with anarchic charm, anchoring this genuinely weird hybrid of cyberpunk thriller and media critique that feels more urgent today than in '85.

  • The film was originally made as a British TV movie.
  • Max Headroom became one of TV's first virtual celebrity icons.

Iconic Quotes
  • I'm not a real person. I'm television's first computer-generated host.
  • Na-na-na-na-nineteen eighty-five!
  • They say I have no body. I say I have everybody.
  • Television. It's the most dangerous weapon ever invented.
  • Blipverts can kill, but hey, great ratings!
