Oldboy is a South Korean neo-noir action thriller film directed by Park Chan-wook. It follows the story of Oh Dae-Su, who is imprisoned in a cell which resembles a hotel room for 15 years without knowing the identity of his captor or his captor's motives. When he is finally released, Dae-Su finds himself still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.
Key emotional revelations are delivered in near silence, and the protagonist's internal anguish is expressed through physical movement and expression rather than verbal articulation.
After being held captive for years in solitary confinement, the protagonist seeks revenge on his captor.
