Synopsis
In Dario Argento's suspenseful horror film 'Opera', a young opera singer named Betty gets the chance of a lifetime to star in a production of Verdi's 'Macbeth'. However, she becomes the target of a mysterious stalker who murders everyone involved in her success and forces her to witness the brutal killings.
Why Watch It
Argento orchestrates a sensory assault of vivid violence, operatic excess, and visual audacity that transforms a familiar slasher premise into pure cinematic spectacle. The film's nauseating intimacy—forcing protagonist and viewer alike to witness atrocities—creates a uniquely claustrophobic terror that linggers long after the curtain falls. A masterclass in stylized horror that prioritizes aesthetic and psychological torment over narrative coherence.
