Synopsis

In this sharp corporate comedy-drama, Danny DeVito plays Lawrence Garfield, a gleefully amoral Wall Street raider who sets his sights on a small New England wire and cable company run by the old-fashioned Gregory Peck. Standing in his way is a brilliant and charming lawyer, played by Penelope Ann Miller, who battles him both in the boardroom and romantically. The film cleverly explores themes of capitalism, corporate greed, and American industrial decline with humor and heart.
