Synopsis

The film 'Out of the Past' (1947) is a classic film noir. It tells the story of a private investigator, Jeff Markham, who gets entwined with a dangerous and seductive woman, Kathie Moffat, leading him into a world of crime and betrayal.

Why Watch It
Classic noir at its most intoxicating: a doomed man caught between the woman he wants to forget and the one he can't resist, all rendered in shadows and cynicism by director Tourneur's masterful hand. Robert Mitchum's world-weary cool and Jane Greer's lethal charm make every betrayal feel inevitable, every lie feel like fate.

  • She can't be all bad. No one is.
  • I never told you I was anything but what I am. You just wanted to imagine I was.
  • And then I saw her, coming out of the sun, and I knew why Whit didn't care about that forty grand.
