Synopsis

In a dystopian and crime-ridden Detroit, a terminally wounded cop returns to the force as a powerful cyborg with submerged memories haunting him. As RoboCop, he takes on the city's rampant crime while struggling with remnants of his humanity.

Why Watch It
RoboCop strips corporate-dystopian sci-fi to its violent, darkly comic core—Verhoeven's surgical direction turns ultraviolence into social satire while Peter Weller's haunted performance grounds the cyborg's existential crisis. It's action cinema that thinks, a 1987 film that feels urgently contemporary in its skewering of privatization and dehumanization.
