Synopsis

Rolling Thunder (1977) follows the story of Major Charles Rane, a Vietnam War veteran who returns home to a tragic reality. After his wife and son are brutally murdered, Rane embarks on a ruthless quest for vengeance against the killers.

Why Watch It
A lean, brutal revenge thriller that transforms personal trauma into unflinching action cinema. William Devane delivers a quietly devastating performance as a man reconstructing himself through violence, while John Flynn's sparse direction and Paul Schrader's taut script create an atmosphere of methodical dread that rarely lets up.
