Based on the classic 1960s Japanese animated series, 'Speed Racer' chronicles the journey of a young race car driver, Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch), who aspires to be world champion. With the support of his family and his high-tech Mach 5 race car, Speed battles against sinister corporations, ruthless rivals, and his own personal limits.
A live-action anime built out of pure color and motion, designed for nine-year-olds and people who understood that nine-year-olds were the only honest audience. Critics complained it gave them headaches. The Wachowskis made the film’s thesis look like motion sickness on purpose.
