Synopsis
The Virgin Suicides follows the Lisbon sisters, five beautiful and enigmatic girls whose lives become the obsession of neighborhood boys after the youngest attempts suicide. Told through the memories of those boys decades later, the film explores repression, desire, and the impossibility of truly knowing another person. Sofia Coppola crafts a dreamy, melancholic portrait of adolescence, suburban suffocation, and the haunting mythology of lives cut tragically short.
