Synopsis
Withnail and I follows two broke, unemployed actors sharing a squalid Camden flat who impulsively flee to a rundown Lake District cottage for a holiday that goes spectacularly wrong. Fuelled by alcohol, paranoia, and desperation, the film is a darkly comic meditation on the end of the 1960s dream and the bittersweet nature of friendship. Director Bruce Robinson's semi-autobiographical masterpiece has since become one of Britain's most beloved cult films.
