Directed by Yi'nan Diao
Synopsis

Diao Yinan's Berlin-winner is a contemporary Chinese noir that traps its detective hero between two winters and a femme fatale who may have killed several men. The film's frozen palette, the ice-skating sequences, and the lateral camera moves create a mood closer to early Wong Kar-wai than to classic noir.

Why Eltorama recommends this film

Diao Yinan\'s neon-noir refuses the romance of detective work — a disgraced cop chasing a serial killer through coal yards becomes a meditation on cold weather and colder feelings.
